Tierra Del Fuego,  Worlds End

There is a merciless land
where Continents end
and oceans collide.

From seething sea bottom faults,
smoldering mountains erupt
rising though molten depths

Bubbles of sulfur, ash and steam ascend
through black cauldron swells into smoke-filled skies,
sleeting down from thunderhead heights.

Towering cloud-capped walls of water
crash upon frozen primordial cliffs,
broken upon the spine of the earth

Under the constellation signs
of an alien hemisphere's burning sky,
conquering night winds howl.

Time and tide are vanquished
from barren shoreless shoals.
The defiant bones of the last outcropping exposed.
